
Safe water consumption is the key role player in preventing arsenicosis. Though the natural distribution of water is abundant, we need to have definite planning to treat these waters and to supply those to the community. We have combined two essential units, such as –
- Hydrogeological Unit and
- Engineering Unit
for ensuring a safe water supply.
From our long experience and technical cooperation of home and abroad, we have developed different kinds of community-based safe water devices. They are unique for a number of reasons. For example, the design of the filtration system, method of cement sealing, sludge management, etc. are different from others. It is noteworthy to mention that we prefer surface water following the arsenic mitigation policy of the Bangladesh Govt.
Hydrogeological Unit
The main duty is to take care of identifying safe sources of water (appropriate aquifer detection, water quality, water availability, etc.)
Engineering Unit
The main duty here is to take care of the installation/construction of the safe water devices. The activities of the engineering unit are to design the structure of safe water devices, to select contractors for installation, to ensure good quality materials, to supervise design-wise construction, to monitor installation processes, to keep record various types of data, to provide training to user committee on maintenance of safe water devices.
It is staffed with long experienced engineers with knowledge on different aspects of safe water supply. They also provide consultancy services to outside clients.
